Vicarious Surgical Inc. has entered a formal agreement with UMass Memorial Medical Center to promote the use and adoption of its robotic surgery system. The collaboration will involve efforts to enhance surgical workflows through improved perioperative procedures, surgeon training, and system engagement strategies. The partnership will also support operational initiatives, such as optimizing inventory management, sterilization processes, and care protocols before and after surgery. Additional activities include surgeon observation, system testing, and knowledge-sharing around research and clinical practices.
UMass Memorial Medical Center, the not-for-profit hospital in Central Massachusetts and a clinical affiliate of UMass Chan Medical School, will contribute its expertise to help refine the robotic system’s use. The center’s experienced surgical staff will work closely with Vicarious Surgical to evaluate and implement best practices. This initiative aligns with both organizations’ goals to improve surgical outcomes and broaden education for healthcare professionals. Adam Sachs, CEO and Co-Founder of Vicarious Surgical, said, “This collaboration will allow us to develop and implement optimized perioperative workflows and initiatives that are critical for successful adoption and utilization of our system. UMass Memorial’s regional leadership and commitment to advancing surgical care make them an ideal partner.”
