Corporate Responsibility

As a newly independent organization, embecta has dedicated significant time and resources to social responsibility aligned with its core values. A major portion of its outreach comes through strong partnerships with over 20 diabetes-centered nonprofit or NGO organizations. Notably, embecta supports the Diabetes Scholars program by Beyond Type 1, which provides scholarships to high school students with type 1 diabetes to support their career aspirations. The company also backs the Diabetes Foundation’s initiatives to offer free education and support programs, helping individuals with prediabetes or diabetes gain the knowledge and tools to reduce the risk of developing diabetes or avoid long-term complications.

Dr. Henry Anhalt, embecta’s Chief Medical Officer, has long been a supporter and board member of Camp Nejeda, a New Jersey-based camp dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with type 1 diabetes and their families. Reflecting embecta’s patient-centric culture, employees across the organization regularly volunteer their time and efforts to support Camp Nejeda throughout the year.

On a global scale, embecta is committed to reducing waste through a recycling program, source reduction, waste minimization, and alternative disposal methods such as beneficial reuse. At its Suzhou, China site, embecta has installed photovoltaic power generation capacity, expected to generate 15% of the site’s annual energy use and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 771 tons annually. All embecta manufacturing sites are ISO 14001 certified, actively monitoring and striving to minimize impacts related to waste, energy consumption, and emissions.
