The big news: Workflow management platform Forcura and clinical decision support company Medalogix announced a merger to create a post-acute care technology platform focused on the advancement of intelligent patient care within home-based care providers. Valued at roughly $1 billion, per The Wall Street Journal, Berkshire Partners will be the majority owner of the combined organization, and The Vistria Group will be the largest minority shareholder in the transaction.
On the move: Dietician telehealth company FoodSmart appointed Kurt Knight to the role of Chief Executive Officer. The former Chief Operating Officer at telemedicine company Amwell, Knight replaces Founder and CEO Jason Langheier, MD, MPH, who will now serve as Chief Science Officer, and remain as a Director on the Board.
The buzz: Enterprise healthcare operations software company symplr released its 2025 State of Healthcare Supply Chain Survey. The company found that rising costs, geopolitical instability, and looming tariffs are exacerbating operational pressures, and that 69 percent of healthcare supply chain leaders expect persistent or worsening challenges this year.
On the rise: ŌURA, maker of Oura Ring, announced the appointment of Ricky Bloomfield, MD, as its first Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Bloomfield joins the company from Apple, where he served as Clinical and Health Informatics Lead and was responsible for the launch of Apple’s Health Records on iPhone and iPad.
What’s next: Google announced several new AI updates at The Check Up, its annual health event. In addition to leveraging AI to improve health results in its search function, the company announced Mobile Records APIs for its Health Connect feature and Loss of Pulse Detection for its Pixel Watch 3.
