symplr Survey Reveals Growing Challenges for Healthcare Supply Chains in 2025

symplr, a provider of enterprise healthcare operations software, released its 2025 State of Healthcare Supply Chain Survey, highlighting increasing challenges and shifting priorities for U.S. hospitals and health systems. The survey, conducted among nearly 100 healthcare supply chain leaders, shows that 69 percent expect continued or worsening difficulties. Supply chain disruptions emerged as the top concern for 36 percent of respondents, overtaking traditional cost-related issues. The findings reflect growing pressures from rising costs, global uncertainties, and potential tariffs, emphasizing the need for stronger risk management and operational strategies.

The survey also reveals key priorities and gaps within healthcare supply chains. Improving patient outcomes and standardization by 22 percent were identified as primary goals, followed by 20 percent cost savings. However, only 28 percent of leaders believe their teams have the skills to manage increasing complexities. Collaboration remains limited, with just 20 percent reporting clinician support for supply chain activities. While 56 percent see the supply chain gaining influence, only 34 percent view it as a highly strategic function. To address these concerns, symplr introduced the symplr Operations Platform, which integrates processes and software to improve operational efficiency and collaboration. The survey emphasizes the need for healthcare systems to focus on clinical integration, standardized processes, and enhanced supply chain management.
