Stryker Appoints New Head for Digital, Robotics, and Enabling Technologies Unit

Stryker has named Mike Carlin as the new President of its Digital, Robotics and Enabling Technologies (DRE) business, as announced by Spencer Stiles, Group President of Orthopaedics. Robert Cohen, who previously led the unit, has transitioned into the role of Vice President, Innovation and Technology, Orthopaedics. “Digital, Robotics, and Enabling Technologies continue to advance our mission to make healthcare better,” Stiles wrote on LinkedIn, adding that the leadership changes reflect the company’s continued focus on advancing solutions for customers and patients. Cohen has held the DRE leadership position since October 2020, having joined Stryker through its acquisition of Mako, the robotic surgical system that significantly shaped the orthopedic robotics market.

In his new role, Cohen will concentrate on innovation strategy, public speaking, musculoskeletal technologies, and AI advocacy within Stryker. He stated, “Work and life balance now matters more,” while expressing his enthusiasm for Carlin’s appointment, writing, “I’m super excited that Mike Carlin will take the reins of DRE to keep the machine running to be even more impactful.” Carlin steps into the role as Stryker continues to prioritize digital technologies in its orthopedic offerings, aiming to maintain its competitive edge in a market that includes rivals such as Zimmer Biomet and Johnson & Johnson Medtech.
