SHL Medical has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina, as part of its global growth strategy. The 360,000-square-foot facility represents a $220 million investment and has already created more than 300 local jobs. This new site will produce SHL Medical’s advanced autoinjectors, supporting a range of therapies including cardiometabolic, dermatology, and musculoskeletal treatments. By increasing production capacity in North America, SHL Medical aims to ensure a reliable supply of self-injection devices while enhancing supply chain resilience. The facility features fully automated injection molding and assembly technologies, boosting precision, efficiency, and product quality.
The company’s expansion in the United States builds on its existing operations in Deerfield Beach, Florida, and prepares it to deliver 1.5 billion devices by 2025. With this new facility, SHL Medical becomes the only autoinjector manufacturer with production sites across three continents. Leaders including CEO Ulrich Faessler and North America Managing Director Kimberlee Steele highlighted the company's commitment to supporting patients and contributing to the local economy. The grand opening event welcomed South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Swiss Embassy Consul General Urs Broennimann, marking a significant step in SHL Medical’s growth and presence in the U.S.
