Samsung Electronics has introduced the Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK) Suite, designed to help developers and researchers create advanced healthcare solutions. The suite includes four components: Sensor SDK, Data SDK, Accessory SDK, and Research Stack. The Sensor SDK provides access to the BioActive Sensor on the Galaxy Watch, measuring key health metrics including heart rate, skin temperature, electrocardiogram, and bioelectrical impedance analysis. A new update allows continuous access to Photoplethysmogram Infrared and Red LED sensor data, enhancing insights into blood oxygen levels and sleep quality. The Data SDK will enable developers to utilize health data from multiple devices, including Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Ring, and third-party wearables, to support digital health solutions.
The Accessory SDK allows integration of third-party health devices, including blood pressure monitors and fitness sensors, within the Samsung Health app, creating a unified health monitoring experience. The open-source Research Stack supports digital health research by providing tools for recruitment, surveys, and progress tracking. The upcoming Research Stack 2.0 will integrate Sensor SDK and Data SDK, enhancing research efficiency. Samsung continues to expand its digital health ecosystem, providing developers and researchers with tools to improve healthcare services.
