PathAI and Northwestern Medicine Collaborate to Advance AI-Driven Pathology Diagnostics

PathAI and Northwestern Medicine have announced a multi-year collaboration to implement the AISight digital pathology platform and jointly develop artificial intelligence tools aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and workflow in pathology. As part of this effort, Northwestern Medicine will integrate AISight into its operations, enabling 95 pathologists across 11 hospitals to review cases digitally and remotely. This transition to a cloud-based image management system will support streamlined case analysis, centralized slide review, and collaboration across the health system. The partnership also lays the foundation for joint research studies, the piloting of AI tools in clinical settings, and the development of diagnostic algorithms based on real-world clinical data.

The collaboration brings together Northwestern Medicine’s clinical experience and PathAI’s AI technology to pursue innovations in digital pathology. Both organizations will work together to test and validate new AI models for pathology applications such as cancer detection and biomarker quantification. Andy Beck, MD, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of PathAI, highlighted, “Collaborating with Northwestern Medicine allows us to bring this mission to life on a large scale. We are thrilled to collaborate with an institution at the forefront of clinical excellence to deploy AISight and jointly develop AI tools that could redefine diagnostic pathology and improve patient outcomes.” Daniel J. Brat, MD, PhD, Chair of Pathology at Northwestern Medicine, said the use of digital pathology and AI tools like AISight would help pathologists work more efficiently and accurately, supporting research and improving diagnostic care.
