ŌURA Expands Leadership, Appoints Ricky Bloomfield as Chief Medical Officer

ŌURA has announced the appointment of Dr. Ricky Bloomfield as its Chief Medical Officer (CMO). In this role, Dr. Bloomfield will oversee the company’s healthcare programs, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to drive new hardware and software advancements. He previously served as Clinical and Health Informatics Lead at Apple, where he contributed to launching Apple’s Health Records feature. Before that, he was the Director of Mobile Technology Strategy at Duke University Health System, where he focused on improving health data interoperability and played a key role in implementing API-based electronic health records using the FHIR standard. Dr. Bloomfield’s background in digital health and clinical informatics aligns with ŌURA’s goal of expanding its healthcare solutions.

Dr. Bloomfield’s appointment comes as ŌURA strengthens its focus on healthcare innovation. The company has recently launched several initiatives, including partnerships with Essence Healthcare, Dexcom, and Lumeris, aimed at improving metabolic health and advancing AI-powered primary care services. Dr. Bloomfield highlighted the critical role of wearable technology in addressing physician shortages and supporting proactive healthcare delivery. Through its Oura Ring and companion app, ŌURA provides real-time health insights to individuals and clinicians, supporting personalized health monitoring.
