MIB and Munich Re Partner After Clareto Acquisition to Re Advance Electronic Medical Data Access

MIB, a provider of digital services and data-based insights for insurers, has entered into a strategic partnership with Munich Re Life US, an expert in risk and reinsurance, to improve access to electronic medical data for life insurance underwriting. As part of this collaboration, MIB is acquiring Clareto, a provider of electronic health records, from Munich Re Life US. The move aims to streamline underwriting by combining Clareto’s data sources with MIB’s existing Medical Data Solutions platform. Clients will benefit from broader access to health records, enhanced data summarization options, and improved automated risk assessment. The partnership will also include tools from Munich Re, such as the alitheia platform, which supports faster decision-making.

The expanded MIB EHR platform will offer clients more flexible and efficient ways to navigate physician statements when electronic records are unavailable, and will now be available to Clareto users. MIB and Munich Re Life US plan to use their combined experience to support the life insurance industry with advanced analytics and guidance, enabling insurers to speed up processes, improve accuracy, and better serve policyholders. Jas Awla, President, MIB Medical Data Solutions, stated, "We look forward to expanding our relationships and data sources to advance our capabilities as the life insurance industry's one-stop shop not just for medical records, but for all types of data needed for underwriting. In addition, we are also excited to align with Munich Re for broad data analytic capabilities tied to electronic health records to streamline underwriting processes for our members."
