Foodsmart has announced the appointment of Kurt Knight as its new Chief Executive Officer. Knight, formerly the Chief Operating Officer at Amwell, played a key role in expanding virtual care access and integrating digital health companies. His background in maternal and child nutrition initiatives with global organizations, along with his education in business, public health, and economics, aligns with Foodsmart’s mission. Founder Jason Langheier, MD, MPH, who has led the company for 15 years, will transition to Chief Science Officer, focusing on data-driven clinical intelligence and foodcare AI innovation while remaining on the Board of Directors. Executive Chairman Frank Williams praised Knight’s leadership, citing his experience in driving healthcare advancements and improving population health outcomes.
Foodsmart, which serves more than two million members, continues to improve health outcomes through its platform, which integrates telenutrition and food-as-medicine benefits. Studies show sustained improvements in weight management, diabetes control, blood pressure regulation, and food security. Knight expressed his commitment to expanding Foodsmart’s reach, emphasizing, “As diet-related chronic disease and food insecurity impact millions of Americans, our work has never been more urgent.
