In partnership with FitNow, an app developer, Cleveland Clinic has launched the Cleveland Clinic Diet app, which combines a comprehensive food and fitness tracker with research-backed nutrition science. This app offers personalized, guided support from Cleveland Clinic health specialists to assist users in the implementation of sustainable lifestyle and dietary adjustments that will enhance their health and well-being. Registered dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD, emphasized the app's holistic approach to individual health beyond mere weight management. The app features curated courses from experts in various health domains, including nutrition, endocrinology, metabolism, and mental health, and uses FitNow’s advanced tracking system to log food intake through scanning nutrition labels, photos, or voice capabilities.
The Cleveland Clinic Diet app offers two specialized tracks: the BodyGuard plan, which focuses on balanced nutrient intake and mindful sugar monitoring, and the HeartSmart plan, designed to enhance cardiovascular health. Built by FitNow, known for the popular weight loss app Lose It!, the app combines Cleveland Clinic’s expert content with FitNow’s behavior change platform. Features include AI-powered speech-to-text voice logging, image logging, barcode scanning, and a vast food recommendation engine. The app's user-centric design aims to provide an empathetic, non-judgmental approach to health improvement.
