BVI Medical, an ophthalmic device company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, has appointed Andrew Chang as its new Chief Commercial Officer. Chang will lead global sales, marketing, and commercial excellence efforts, reporting directly to President and CEO Shervin Korangy. The company stated that the appointment aligns with its plans for continued expansion and upcoming product launches. The announcement follows a significant milestone for BVI — a $1 billion fundraise completed last month, which supports its strategic initiatives, including the expansion of intraocular lens (IOL) manufacturing in Europe and the launch of its Serenity and Serenity Toric premium monofocal IOLs.
Chang brings over two decades of commercial leadership experience in the ophthalmic medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. Before joining BVI, he served as President of Carl Zeiss Meditec USA and Head of Global Sales for Zeiss Ophthalmic Devices, where he directed commercial strategies across a range of surgical and diagnostic technologies. His previous roles also include senior leadership positions at Bausch + Lomb, where he was SVP and General Manager of U.S. Surgical, and executive roles at OptiMedica and ISTA Pharmaceuticals. Chang’s extensive experience is expected to contribute significantly to BVI’s commercial strategy as it enters a new phase of growth.
