April Health and Wysa Merge to Improve Access to Mental Health Care

April Health has announced a merger with Wysa to address the growing need for accessible mental health care. This partnership combines April Health’s human-led behavioral health services with Wysa’s AI-driven therapeutic support. By integrating advanced AI technology, the collaboration ensures patients receive continuous mental health care between clinician visits, reducing wait times and improving follow-through on referrals. Patients referred by primary care providers will now have access to a hybrid care model, including behavioral health specialists, psychiatrists, and Wysa’s AI coach. This model allows April Health to provide timely mental health support, especially in rural and underserved areas where access to care is limited.

The merger aims to resolve challenges in behavioral health care delivery, where more than half of referrals from primary care settings go unfulfilled. April Health manages patient care from the initial referral, offering personalized solutions including psychiatric consultations and AI-guided digital support. This integrated approach also supports Collaborative Care Management, enabling clinics to receive reimbursement for behavioral health services. According to April Health’s CEO, Jesse Weinberg, the collaboration with Wysa offers patients continuous mental health care without increasing the burden on providers. This merger reflects a commitment to expanding mental health services and ensuring that every patient receives timely, effective support.
