Abridge, an AI-powered clinical documentation platform, has raised $300 million in its Series E funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Khosla Ventures. The funding will support the expansion of Abridge’s technology across more than 150 enterprise health systems in the U.S. Currently supporting over 50 million annual medical conversations across 55 specialties and 28 languages, Abridge is designed to reduce administrative overhead by automatically capturing and structuring clinical information during patient visits. The platform integrates revenue cycle intelligence into conversations, helping clinicians document in real-time and avoid post-visit corrections. CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Shiv Rao stated, “Abridge activates those signals in the background, silently handling the complexity so clinicians can focus on the human moments that matter. We reduce the burden, restore time, and help make care about the people at the heart of it all.”
The U.S. healthcare system allocates nearly $1.5 trillion annually to administrative tasks, much of which involves clinical documentation and billing workflows. Abridge aims to reduce this burden by embedding intelligent automation into these processes, allowing revenue cycle teams to receive complete and accurate documentation without needing to follow up with physicians. Its Contextual Reasoning Engine aligns with models like CMS-HCC version 28, ensuring proper coding and audit readiness. David George, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, stressed, “Abridge eliminates inefficiencies at their source, directly in the clinical conversation, with a platform that has demonstrated tremendous traction and impact in the market.”
