Abbott Launches Lingo Continuous Glucose Monitor for US Health and Wellness Market

Abbott has launched its Lingo Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system in the United States, which is now accessible without a prescription. Lingo is a health-conscious consumer product that is built upon the technology of Abbott's FreeStyle Libre system, which currently supports over six million diabetes patients worldwide. Its purpose is to assist health-conscious consumers in monitoring their glucose levels in order to enhance their overall wellness. The Lingo system comprises a mobile application that furnishes real-time glucose data and a wearable biosensor that is affixed to the back of the arm for a period of up to 14 days. This allows users to track their body's responses to stress, exercise, and food, which can provide valuable insights for improving their health in areas such as mood, sleep, and weight management.

Olivier Ropars, Abbott's divisional vice president for Lingo, stated "There is a great deal of interest in tracking biomarkers that provide insights into one's health and wellness that were previously undetectable using the trackers available to consumers." Lingo Challenges, personalized insights, food and activity recording, and a glucose graph are among the key features of the app that assist users in achieving their health objectives. Lingo is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older and is not intended for the diagnosis of any disease. The Lingo app is available for installation on the App Store.
