PT Kalbe Farma Tbk and GE HealthCare have jointly inaugurated Indonesia’s first production facility dedicated to manufacturing CT (Computed Tomography) scanners. Located at PT Forsta Kalmedic Global (Forsta) in Bogor, the facility aims to strengthen the country's healthcare infrastructure by localizing the production of advanced diagnostic equipment. The initiative addresses the healthcare needs of a population exceeding 280 million and supports the government’s policy to prioritize domestic production of ten key medical devices. The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency, along with executives from Kalbe and GE HealthCare.
Elie Chaillot, President & CEO of GE HealthCare International, said, “This facility will help us respond faster to local needs while maintaining the highest international standards of quality and safety.” Irawati Setiady, President Director of Kalbe, stated that the strategic partnership with GE HealthCare to locally supply CT scan machines reflects Kalbe’s dedication to supporting government initiatives aimed at strengthening national health resilience and promoting self-reliance in the local healthcare industry. Forsta Director Yvone Astri Della Sijabat emphasized, “Establishing a domestic CT scan production facility is crucial for enhancing access to broader healthcare services.” The facility is expected to reduce reliance on imports, shorten delivery times, and support job creation while enhancing Indonesia’s medical manufacturing expertise and healthcare access.
