Midmark Launches First USAB-Compliant Procedure Chair to Enhance Accessibility

Midmark Corporation has introduced the Midmark 631 Procedure Chair, the first and only procedure chair to comply with the U.S. Access Board's 2024 accessibility standards for medical diagnostic equipment. Designed to address the needs of patients with mobility challenges, the chair features a low seat height of 17 inches, a high seat height of 39 inches, and transfer surfaces of 28 or 32 inches wide. Its base clearance allows compatibility with patient lifts for safer transfers. Additional compliant features include articulating knee crutches, Patient Support Rails, and Support Rails+ to provide stability during access and positioning. This chair joins the Midmark 626 Barrier-Free Examination Chair, making Midmark the only manufacturer offering both a procedure and examination chair that meet USAB standards.

Beyond patient accessibility, the Midmark 631 also focuses on caregiver ergonomics. It includes 8-way powered positioning, a 22-inch height adjustment range, and features such as active sensing technology, motion profiling, and foot extension for taller patients. Built-in duplex receptacles provide power access for medical accessories, while Quick Chair and Chair Home functions simplify patient entry and exit. These design elements aim to support both effective care delivery and comfort for a wide range of patients, reflecting Midmark’s continued attention to clinical functionality and patient-centered design.
