Charlie Health has launched a virtual program dedicated to treating individuals with primary substance use disorders (SUD), expanding its high-acuity behavioral care services. The new offering provides comprehensive treatment, including individual and group therapy, family support, and medication-assisted treatment using buprenorphine or naltrexone. Clients are matched with specialized care teams and placed in peer groups to promote engagement and accountability. All services are delivered remotely, enabling clients to maintain daily responsibilities while receiving consistent care. The program addresses a significant gap in treatment access, as only 6% of the more than 46 million Americans with SUD receive care annually.
Charlie Health shows strong results for clients with substance use and mental health issues, with 94% avoiding higher-level care within three months post-treatment. Mental health outcomes also improved, with marked decreases in symptoms such as suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety. To enhance ongoing support, Charlie Health partnered with You Are Accountable, a peer-led service offering virtual coaching and drug testing. Matthew Serel, CEO and Co-Founder of You Are Accountable, commented, "Together with Charlie Health, we're reinforcing the bridge between treatment and real-world recovery, ensuring individuals have the resources and support they need to stay well and build a sustained, dignified, and fulfilling life in recovery."
