In a hospital setting, consistency is key. After a recent article in Anesthesiology News highlighted the dangers of mislabeled or mismatched vials, Codonics, a medical imaging and patient safety company, shared its processes to avoid these potentially critical errors.
Per Codonics’ statistics, there is one medication administration error for every 133 anesthetics delivered, and one in 250 of those errors is fatal. Codonics’ Safe Labeling System is used in more than 16,000 operating rooms and is installed in over 1,000 of the world’s leading hospitals, and is designed specifically to avoid these errors.
