Arpit Khemka is a passionate healthcare innovator with over 13 years of experience, driven by his desire to revolutionize the industry and improve patient outcomes. In 2011, Arpit co-founded SimpleTherapy with two orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Nic Gay and Dr. Tae Won Kim, inspired by the potential to create a more effective therapeutic care delivery system using technology. Over the past decade, he has worked closely with a team of clinicians and orthopedic surgeons to design and develop SimpleTherapy’s revolutionary AI system for musculoskeletal (MSK) care and a comprehensive MSK + Mental Health care delivery platform that focuses on outcomes, quality, and cost.


Arpit’s dedication to fixing healthcare led him to play a pivotal role in addressing the critical issues faced by the Massachusetts Health Exchange, where he successfully led the team to get the project back on track. Prior to co-founding SimpleTherapy, Arpit’s career focused on product development and bringing complex systems to life, which laid the foundation for his endeavors in the healthcare industry.


In addition to his work with SimpleTherapy, Arpit has held the position of Lead Systems Architect at CGI Inc., an $11 billion global information technology and business process services firm. During his tenure at CGI, Arpit spearheaded the digitization of the incarceration process for the New York City Department of Corrections Jail Management System, a system that processes thousands of inmates annually.


Throughout his career, Arpit has designed algorithm-based decision-making systems for various industries and applications, such as the Indian navy, business process software, and real estate property management platforms integrated with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bank of America, and HUD.

Jeremy Oswald, President


With more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Jeremy’s primary focus has been in musculoskeletal (MSK) and behavioral health. He has obtained Knox-Keene licenses in the past for chiropractic/acupuncture and mental health/substance use disorder and EAP specialty plans, as well as a Restricted Knox-Keene license for a Medicare Advantage plan owned and operated by Trinity Health. These experiences have given him a unique perspective on how to manage the quality, accessibility and cost of care effectively.


One of Jeremy’s significant achievements was co-founding PhysMetrics, an MSK company that offers carve-out benefit administration of PT, OT, SLP, Chiropractic, and Acupuncture benefits for self-funded organizations. PhysMetrics has thousands of directly contracted providers and has been providing valuable services to patients with MSK conditions since 2007.

In 2012, Jeremy co-founded Halcyon Behavioral, a behavioral health and wellness company that provides Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), mental health/substance use disorder carve-out programs (MHSUD), and wellness programs. Halcyon offers 24/7/365 access to licensed behavioral health clinicians and a network of thousands of providers nationwide. In 2022, both PhysMetrics and Halcyon Behavioral merged with SimpleTherapy.


Currently, Jeremy is the President of SimpleTherapy, where he operates the company and provides the vision and direction jointly with SimpleTherapy’s CEO, Arpit Khemka. His extensive experience in MSK and Behavioral Health makes him an invaluable asset to the company, which provides accessible and affordable MSK and behavioral health services to patients.


Tae Won Kim, MD, Chief Medical Officer


Dr. Tae Won Benjamin Kim is a renowned orthopedic surgeon and oncologist with a distinguished career in both clinical practice and academia. Recognized as a “Top Doc” by Philadelphia Magazine in 2021, 2022, 2023, Dr. Kim also serves as the Director of the Orthopedic Oncology Center and the Rare Cancers Program at Cooper University Health Care.

Dr. Kim completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before earning his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He pursued his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and further honed his expertise through a fellowship in Orthopedics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.


With a clinical focus on benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, spine and sacral tumors, and metastatic bone disease, Dr. Kim also has a special interest in limb-sparing surgeries for failed joint replacements or complex joint replacement problems. As an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, he shares his knowledge and expertise with future medical professionals.


In 2011, Dr. Kim co-founded SimpleTherapy alongside Arpit Khemka and Dr. Nic Gay. SimpleTherapy is an innovative platform that helps users comply with therapeutic programs by blending a diverse panel of licensed clinicians with technology to make the process of receiving PT restorative care simple. The system is designed to choose optimally effective exercises for each member based on user pain, functional abilities, and feedback, just as an experienced clinician would consider during an in-person evaluation.


In addition to his teaching roles, Dr. Kim has held various editing positions, including Chief Editor of the Oncology Section and Co-Editor-in-Chief at the University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. His extensive research has been published in numerous academic journals, such as the Journal of Arthroplasty and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, further solidifying his reputation as a leading expert in his field.


C. Bret Sullivan, DC, FACO, Medical Director, MSK


C. Bret Sullivan, DC, FACO, has built an impressive career in the field of chiropractic and managed healthcare. In 1990, he co-founded Sierra Chiropractic, an IPA that provided comprehensive services such as network development, utilization management, quality management, credentialing, and claims payment for self-insured groups across California, Oregon, and Washington State.


After selling the company to United Healthcare, Dr. Sullivan took on the role of Western Region Medical Director/VP for musculoskeletal care, where he managed ancillary healthcare services. During his tenure, he contributed to the development of a utilization management program specifically developed for Blue Shield of California.


Dr. Sullivan continued his career as the co-founder and medical director of PhysMetrics, a managed care company that offered services such as network development, utilization management, claims processing, quality assurance, and credentialing for musculoskeletal benefits catered to self-insured employers. In 2022, PhysMetrics merged with SimpleTherapy, leading to Dr. Sullivan’s appointment as MSK Medical Director.


In his current role, Dr. Sullivan is responsible for clinical oversight and guidance of the clinical team, encompassing areas like physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Collaborating closely with SimpleTherapy’s CMO and clinical staff, Dr. Sullivan oversees member care, reviews clinical data and outcomes, and works with the engineering team to ensure clinical appropriateness within the services provided.
