symplr’s 2024 Compass Survey Highlights Technology Challenges in Healthcare

symplr, a pioneer in corporate healthcare operations software, has published its third annual Compass Survey, which provides information on how U.S. health systems use technology and make decisions. The 2024 report, titled "From Pressure to Progress: Healthcare Operations & the Path Forward for Clinical, Operational & IT Leaders," reveals that 51% of hospitals use over 50 different software solutions, though this figure has decreased from previous years. The survey emphasizes the importance of unifying IT, operations, and clinical teams to enhance productivity and patient care, with 82% of respondents advocating for streamlined workflows and software consolidation.

The survey also highlights critical issues such as cybersecurity, clinician burnout, and fragmented software systems. While 85% of clinicians waste more than an hour daily on administrative tasks, nearly half of IT leaders have not audited their systems in the past year, and most see opportunities for software consolidation. Moreover, clinicians believe they should have more influence in software purchasing decisions, but only 57% feel their current tools enable optimal patient care. symplr, known for its cloud-based solutions used in over 9 out of 10 U.S. hospitals, aims to address these challenges by providing software that improves operational efficiency and allows healthcare workers to focus more on patient care.
